Spain is a rose

From a market on the street, that smells from miles away

Beautiful, red, like a deep-bodied wine

Spain is wine! Cheese, oils, breads

Spain in sunshine

A beautiful woman with fine wrinkles by her eyes

And piercing eyebrows

Spain is dancing

Spain is a hidden flamenco, a couple preparing their stance

Staring in each other’s eyes

Clapping, stomping, a sensual air surrounding

America is a wildflower

It’s honeysuckles that you pick from the trees

America is running as fast as you can

A Christmas tree farm with hot chocolate

America is autumn leaves and spring mosquitos

America is a sunroom with big windows

A dog that sits by your feet

The smell of smoke on the grill

Spanish is an awakening

Delicious

A fruit from a tree that you always want to pick

Spanish is romantic

Makes me want to fall in love

It’s a new book, a new friend

A new discovery of yourself

Spanish is looking in a mirror

English is a mother

It’s a raindrop on your roof

It’s a child laughing

It’s a breakfast that you eat every morning with your coffee

Still in your pajamas

It’s old photos

And Dogwood trees
